Mosaic Mirror Class For Beginning Mosaicists

Thursday, July 16 , 10 am to 6 pm, I'm teaching a 1 day workshop Making Mosaic Mirror Frames at Cycling Salamander Gallery in Charlevoix, MI. To sign up for the class, call the gallery at 231.547.2333. Registration deadline for the class is July 1.

This is a great introductory class in the art of mosaic, covering basic skills through demonstration and hands-on experience. At the end of the workshop, you will be able to take home a gorgeous Mosaic Mirror. Better yet, when people ask where you got it, you'll be able to say you did it yourself! The class fee of $140 covers the cost of all materials including the mosaic base shown below, mirror, vitreous glass mosaic tile, grout, etc. All necessary tools will be provided for use during the class.

MirrorSquare Mirror Mosaic Base- 12" x 12"

These surfaces, especially designed for mosaic art are created from 3/4" MDF, a preferred substrate for mosaic art. In order to provide a flush front surface, the 4" x 4" mirror is embedded in the front of the base. This not only provides a smooth surface but also creates more useable mirror surface. A keyhole slot in back makes hanging easy.

About John

John T. Unger If my job as an artist is to fill the world with "more things," I feel it is equally important that I reclaim materials from the waste stream to make space for my work. — John T. Unger

I believe creative re-use has the potential to spark new ways of looking at the world… if one thing can be turned into another, what else can we change? Successful recycled art encourages creativity in others— it's alchemical, magical, subversive, and transformative by nature. Read On
