Made from 100% recycled materials, these flame cut tall candle holders are the perfect complement to the Great Bowl O' Fire. Each torch is hand cut with a torch from scrap oxygen tanks. The stem is made from natural gas pipe. There are two styles of base to choose from: the flat base is more suitable for indoor use, while the rounded base (made from a harrow blade for tilling soil) is better for outdoor use. The rounded base allows water to run out through the stem of the torch, preventing rust from damaging the torch. The other benefit of the rounded base is that it still retains it's desire to till earth, so if you want to bury the base for stability, all you have to do is rotate the torch back and forth a few times— no shoveling necessary! A votive candle placed inside the torch makes the flame design flicker just as if the steel were live fire.

If you dig these but need something smaller, try my hand-cut steel luminaries!

About John

John T. Unger If my job as an artist is to fill the world with "more things," I feel it is equally important that I reclaim materials from the waste stream to make space for my work. — John T. Unger

I believe creative re-use has the potential to spark new ways of looking at the world… if one thing can be turned into another, what else can we change? Successful recycled art encourages creativity in others— it's alchemical, magical, subversive, and transformative by nature. Read On
