I get a lot of late night calls from folks on the west coast who either forget that it's three hours later here, or actually know that I am probably pulling yet another all-nighter and would welcome the distraction. (Usually, it's 'cause they forgot). Likewise, I'm always tempted to call people first thing in the morning and if they happen to be in the Pacific time zone, there's a fair chance I'm going catch them sleeping or with a mouth fulla breakfast, because, yeah, I forget too.
If I made many calls to other continents, I'd be in a real mess trying to figure out what time it is there! Sure, I can Google it like everyone else if I happen to be online, but usually when I do that I find a map that shows time zones rather than the actual time right now— that is, I have to do math, which I hate. And there's a fair chance that being a bit dyslexic, I'll call at 5 AM when I meant to call at 5 PM. Oops.
So here's an idea: Why can't the saved numbers in my phone display the time of day when I select a number? It'd be so easy… Here I was thinking I'd have to enter a postal code or something, but actually it wouldn't take a very smart phone to figure out the time there based on the area code and exchange! Simple. An no one ever needs to think again about whether it's an appropriate time to call.
Now I really want this. Someone build it. Please.
