A Good Idea

big ideaSeth Godin asks "How many bloggers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?"

But the real question he'd like an answer to is why haven't people taken to CF (compact fluorescent) bulbs when they're cheaper (long term) and more environmentally sound. He challenges bloggers to come up with a better story to increase the perceived value of switching to CF bulbs.

How about this for a reason: if you're not swayed by the political, environmental, or financial reasons to switch, do it because it makes you look smarter.

That's right. If the "idea bulb" hanging over your head when you have a bright idea is a CF bulb, it makes you look smarter and more in the know.

Also, since they last so much longer than regular bulbs, you'll waste less time changing them, which allows you to work smarter by laying around thinking all day instead of doing minor home maintenance.

Be lazy and smart: buy CF bulbs!
